Profile:
I'm one of those people that laugh at everything, sitcoms, stand up comedians, people falling over in the street...I have an incredibly varied taste with my current favourites being Green Wing and Spaced but I also admit to laughing at Last of the Summer Wine on occasion! I'm looking to create a comedy writers club in my area, just a friendly group of people meeting to talk about their favourite sitcoms, watch them and maybe even some collaborative writing, so if you are interested let me know.

Writers Directory Profile:
Having just changed jobs things have slipped a bit but I am currently writing a comedy-drama focusing on the relationship between the two main characters. I wouldn't want to call it a romantic comedy but it's definitely not surreal like Green Wing or gag based like Not Going Out. It's nothing like Friends or Coupling, I'd say its spiritual home is more Royle Family. It's a quiet kind of piece, with many scenes two-handers and very little real action. Think Smoking Room. I'd love to create relationships within my work that compare to Tim and Dawn in The Office and Tim and Daisy in Spaced - I've just had an epiphany, my main character should be called Tim not Jake. I am a long way from that at the moment but I am trying.

Regarding experience, I am very much the novice. At Uni I contributed a few pieces for my student newspaper and these were normally humorous pieces. I've also contributed to an in-house publication at my previous job.

I'm really looking to forge links as I'd love to work in a partnership or team as I work best when I have other people to bounce things off.

I have now finished episode one of my comedy-drama (in draft format) and I am aiming to send it to the BBC in April time. I've drifted a bit though and I'm writing some shorter pieces for radio and also some stand-up material although I would never be brave enough to stand up myself!
