Writers Directory Profile:
I'm a comedy writer based just outside Reading. I've written lots of stage comedy over the last couple of years for "NewsRevue", "The Treason Show", and one-off shows like "Comedy Pit". My sketches have featured in the "best of" shows for both News and Treason, and were taken to Edinburgh and Berlin respectively by the two shows, and my NewsRevue sketches were singled out in many of the reviews for praise.
More recently I got my first broadcast credit with BBC7's "Tilt" and as a result I am now working on sketches for other BBC radio shows.
My sitcoms "Art For Art's Sake" and "Headhunters" both made it to the semi-finals of last year's Sitcom Trials, where they received two fully-staged performances each, and my sitcom "19th Nervous Breakdown" has been selected for the next season of the Trials. This year I plan to start submitting these sitcoms, along with some other programme ideas, to production companies, and also start approaching agents with a view to representation.
In the meantime I'm continuing to write for fringe comedy shows and am working with various well-known sketch comedy groups.
My key ambition for 2009 is to finish my comedy play "Get Sartre" and see it performed at a theatre.
I've also started selling one-liner jokes to the 118 118 text message service, and have had a brief go at stand-up comedy and sketch performing.
(NOTE the projects above are a mixture of solo writing and joint writing with various writing partners.)
