Hmmm. What to say?

Having never written any comedy sketches before, I decided to enter Sketch Factor when I stumbled across it on a BBC website. I somehow bluffed my way through to the final and ended up submitting material for the first series of Recorded For Training Purposes. Some of it made it into the script and then got cut. some of it even managed to get recorded before being cut but it turned out the producer liked me enough to invite me onto the writing team on a non-commissioned basis for the second series. This was pretty cool as I got a script editor and attended virtually all of the writers' meetings. I got a fair few sketches on air as well as contributing gags or ideas for other people. The producer has recommended me to be commissioned for the third series - which virtually guarantees that there won't be one, I'm not that lucky.

Apart from that I've had a few gags in Look Away Now and did quite well at getting my Audience Question answers on air for three or four series of The Now Show.

Outside of comedy, I enjoy doing stuff.

Writers Directory Profile:
I was a finalist in the BBC's 'Sketch Factor' competition which led to sketches being broadcast on Recorded For Training Purposes and the probability of being commissioned for series three (if there is one!)

My influences are all over the place, pretty much any British comedy. Oddly, the ones I really, really like are the ones least likely to influence the style I write in - I couldn't be the next Chris Morris or Mighty Boosh for instance.

I suppose the sketch shows I like which my style is most similar to would be things like Big Train, Mitchell & Webb, Armstrong & Miller etc.

I also do reasonable snappy satire - one liners and comments rather than full-blown satirical sketches.

You may see me posting on this site as 'Afinkawan'. I'm not specifically looking to collaborate but I would be open to collaboration on individual projects.
