About "Supernova"

Supernova Cast It’s about 100 degrees in the shade: the acacia shimmers in the hard blinding haze, stretching for miles to what has to be a mirage – the shining white dome of the Royal Australian Observatory. This is the setting for a six-part comedy series about love, life and the universe. Hapless British astronomer Dr Paul Hamilton leaves his unexciting girlfriend and neurotic cat in London for a life of surprise, discovery and cosmic primal gases. Paul can see a glorious new life stretching before him. A life where he can be embrace his dreams... but the Aussie outback delivers up a bit more than pale Dr Paul is expecting.

Supernova is television comedy on a grand scale. The series is set in the stunning Australian Outback and rockets viewers through far-flung black holes, cosmic stardust and rips in the fabric of time and space. The characters brave heat, flies, wildlife, crazy locals and each other to unravel the mysteries of the cosmos.

Dr Paul Hamilton (Rob Brydon)In the second series Rob Brydon returned as Dr Paul Hamilton. Paul and his eccentrically brilliant colleagues from the Royal Australian Observatory spent another six episodes based around life, love and the universe. The latest series saw Paul nearly start World War Three, hunt for a killer kangaroo, get seduced by an 18-year-old girl, become a champion camel jockey and enrage the ancient Aboriginal spirits by pilfering their sacred relics.

Supernova is a co-production between Fox World Australia and Hartswood Films ("Men Behaving Badly" and "Coupling"). The show was conceived and is written by Australian writer Harry Cripps and directed by Matt Lipsey ("Little Britain").

A stellar ensemble cast of Australian actors feature alongside Rob Brydon. The cast includes some of Australia’s most recognisable and emerging talents, including Kris McQuade (Ned Kelly, Better Than Sex and Mullet); Kat Stewart (Nigel and The Extra); Tim Draxl (The Shark Net, Dirty Deeds and Swimming Upstream); Hollie Andrew (Somersault); Peter Kowitz (AFI winner for Best Actor in The Long Way Home and The Body Surfer) and Damion Hunter (NIDA graduate).
