Suburban Shootout SUBURBAN SHOOTOUT

SERIES 2 - First broadcast 2007

1. Episode One

With Barbara Du Pres in prison, Joyce must juggle her domestic existence with the responsibilities as leader of a vigilante gang keeping the streets of Stempington free from common crime. A situation that remains ever complicated given that husband Jeremy, chief of the local constabulary, is entertaining a conference of delegates visiting Stempington to discover why the crime rate is so low.

Maintaining the status quo is never easy for Joyce. She and Camilla will get into a 'bitchy' catfight in the toilets of the local theatre during a performance by a troupe of male Belarusian ballet dancers. The fight is interrupted when the dance troupe suddenly announce that they're making a bid for political asylum.

Joyce becomes suspicious of Camilla's motives when Camilla installs the asylum seekers in the greenhouses and sheds of a local garden centre. It doesn't take long to work out that Camilla's setting up a brothel of male escorts to entertain Stempington's wives. Joyce must squeeze in preparations for a home cooked meal for Jeremy's police delegation with plans for a commando attack to close down the garden centre sex operation. Joyce successfully manages to free the Belarusian dancers and then blows up the garden centre. An action that prompts a furious rage from Camilla who threatens revenge.

Meanwhile, Camilla manages to 'persuade' a member of Jeremy's police delegation Chevy, a bent cop from Miami, to join forces with her. Chevy introduces Camilla to the idea of building a super casino on Stempington Wetlands. This would take Camilla's crimes into the criminal super league!

First broadcast: 6th Sept 2007. 1 hour long.

2. Episode Two

Barbara Du Pre starts to bond with her thuggish, arson-prone cellmate, Donna, so life inside prison becomes easier for her. However, she'd be gutted to discover what's going on back home.

In order to obtain planning permission for the super casino on Stempington Wetlands Camilla decides she will blackmail the local MEP with an incriminating home video. And it seems Joyce is losing her control over Stempington life when Camilla's cohorts, Lillian and Hilary start encouraging the local ladies to solve their differences by attending an all female Fight Club. From now on Camilla intends all local disputes and petty feuds to be fixed by girl on girl fist fights.

Camilla's still not over the fact that Joyce blew up the garden centre and plots an evil plan. Camilla summons Jeremy to her house under the pretence of a burglary; she drugs him and then stages a sexual scene in her Jacuzzi. The resulting video evidence is sent to Joyce. As expected Joyce falls to pieces.

Meanwhile, Camilla's daughter Jewel is suffering now that Joyce's son Bill has gone off to college. Having failed her audition for drama school Jewel makes a plea for help by staging her own suicide at the heights of Stempington Bridge. Like any good son, Bill responds to Jewel's text message threatening to kill herself and turns up in the nick of time to offer a marriage proposal as a means of saving Jewel.

At the climax of the episode Joyce learns about the fight club and marches off to challenge Camilla. Camilla and Joyce will enter into a bloody battle witnessed by Stempington's ladies. Joyce overcomes the odds to become victor but at what cost...?

At the groundbreaking ceremony for the wetlands super casino Camilla plants a spade into the ground to dig up the first bit of earth but... a body is revealed!

Jeremy starts to investigate though it'd be quicker to ask Barbara and Camilla as they know the victim - it was their first ever kill when the used to be on the same side!

Hence the battle for the wetlands [which Barbara is intent on saving] will be determined by the one who can convince the police of their innocence. Barbara and Camilla each in turn tries to offer evidence that will prove the other is responsible for the body.

Meanwhile Joyce, disturbed by her fight club experiences, has admitted herself into psychiatric care. However, news about her son's engagement to Jewel prompts to her break out and final put Stempington right.

Joyce proceeds to track down all the women of the gangs to convince them to mend their ways. Unfortunately, the Stempington women are all starting to disappear.

We'll soon learn that Barbara's cellmate Donna has lost the plot and in her own bid for power has taken all the women hostage. Quite what fate Donna has planned we don't know but it involves fire. Luckily Barbara is still wearing her ankle tag. The local cops are alerted to the fact she's broken her curfew and as they track her down Jeremy discovers all the women in captivity.

Plans for the super casino are shelved and the body from the Wetlands mysteriously disappears. Could it be Joyce has the body and is using it as a means to keep Barbara and Camilla in check?
