Spaced SPACED

SERIES 2 - First broadcast 2001

1. Back

Daisy's been travelling in Asia and returns with a tan, highlights... and the wrong suitcase. She arrives home to 23 Meteor Street to find that Mike has been living in her room, and has transformed it into a camoflage heaven. When two secret agents, Smith (Mark Gatiss) and Jones (Kevin Eldon), turn up at the flat, she realises the mysterious, charming stranger she met on the way home was not as clean-cut as she thought. He swapped bags with her, and the agents are determined to get back the bag - whatever the cost.

First broadcast: 23rd Feb 2001

2. Change

Marsha's fighting with her teenage daughter Amber comes to a head, and Amber storms out of the house, leaving Marsha with an empty room. Daisy is still out of work. Tim has been fired from the comic shop because owner Bilbo (Bill Bailey) says Tim is letting his negative feelings about The Phantom Menace get out of control. So Tim and Daisy go to the Job Centre together. Daisy is refused money because the officer guesses she's been travelling, but Tim's officer is more sympathetic, recognising a Menace obsession when she sees one. They arrive home to find Mike has moved in with Marsha upstairs.

First broadcast: 2nd March 2001

3. Mettle

Mike and Tim are through to the quarter finals of Robot Wars with a fantastic machine, but trouble is in the air. A rival team, headed by Dexter (Reece Shearsmith), decide to sabotage Mike and Tim's efforts. Meanwhile, Brian is forced into agreeing to put on an installation at an art gallery. He is struggling for inspiration, and an unfortunate accident turns out to be not so unfortunate in the end.

First broadcast: 9th March 2001

4. Help

Damian Knox (Clive Russell), the head of Darkstar Comics, has asked to see Tim's portfolio, thanks to the persuasiveness of his beautiful assistant Sophie (Lucy Akhurst). Tim is nervous, and rightly so. The last time one-eyed Damian met Tim, he cruelly put down Tim's work. In his anger, Tim drew a less-than-flattering caricature of Knox. Daisy helpfully puts this into Tim's portfolio, leaving Tim with a race against time to get the drawing back... with the help of Mike and Tyres.

First broadcast: 23rd March 2001

5. Gone

A night on the town for Tim and Daisy turns nasty. Tim's date with Sophie is cancelled and Daisy leaves a stew on the boil, and they head down to Camden. Mike is left in charge of Colin the dog, with orders to take him out for a walk before Mike goes on one of his missions with the TA. Colin runs off and Mike panics, but reliable Brian comes to the rescue. Meanwhile in Camden, Duane - Tim's ex girlfriend Sarah's current squeeze - turns up in the pub and starts chatting to Daisy, much to Tim's growing anger. They decide to call it a night, but are confronted by a gang of teenage yobbos in an alley... and a shoot-out ensues.

First broadcast: 30th March 2001

6. Dissolution

It is Daisy's 26th birthday and the gang go out to celebrate. Marsha is still under the impression that Tim and Daisy are a loving couple, but Tim has started seeing with Sophie from Darkstar. Their open flirting makes Marsha suspicious, and she sees Tim kiss Sophie at the gate. She eventually can't hold it in any longer and, at the dinner table, bursts out that she saw them kissing. Daisy tells her the truth - that she and Tim have never been a couple. Marsha is devastated that the people she considered to be her friends have lied to her and leaves in tears, but not before telling them that the 'professional couples only' condition was in fact a typing error.

First broadcast: 6th April 2001

7. Leaves

Is it the end for the gang? Marsha has put 23 Meteor Street up for sale, much to everyone's shock. They realise how hurt she is and try to find a way to win her back. Meanwhile, Daisy is offered a job on a local newspaper far away from London, and decides to take it without telling anyone. Tim's girlfriend Sophie is also leaving for a new job with Marvel comics - in Seattle. Tim, Mike and Brian find Marsha at Amber's, and play Take That's Back For Good to her from the hub of a tank. They get back home to find Daisy has left Tim a note to say goodbye. Here he makes the ultimate decision - he sends Mike with a note to Sophie and goes to the train station to persuade Daisy to stay. Will there be a happy ending after all?

First broadcast: 13th April 2001
