SERIES 1 - First broadcast 19991. Beginnings Heartbroken Tim Bisley, a comic book artist, has just split up with the love of his life, Sarah, who has gone off with someone else. Daisy Steiner is an aspiring writer and journalist, and decides to leave the squat where she's currently living. Tim and Daisy meet each other in a café while searching for flats. After a few days of fruitless searching, Tim points out an advert for the perfect flat - the only problem is it's for a professional couple only. Daisy suggests they pretend to be a couple. They fake holiday photographs, memorise each other's history and soon move into 23 Meteor Street - the flat below landlady Marsha and above Brian Topp, an artist who lives in the basement. First broadcast: 24th Sept 1999 2. Furtherings The new roommates have finished unpacking, and now Daisy is searching for any excuse at all to avoid sitting down at her typewriter and doing some work. Time passes, and she hits on an idea - what about a housewarming party? Tim agrees, but is disappointed at the turn-out - his best friend Mike Watt, Brian, Marsha, Daisy's best friend Twist and the paperboy. To Tim's disgust, Daisy puts Prefab Sprout on the stereo, while Marsha's teenage tearaway daughter Amber has a pumping party upstairs. First broadcast: 1st Oct 1999 3. Art An invitation drops through the door of Brian's flat to a new performance art show by his former artistic partner Vulva (David Walliams). Brian remains in awe of the "brilliant" Vulva and spends hours trying on different outfits, practising how to say hello. He eventually plucks up the courage to go, and reluctantly takes Tim and Daisy. Vulva treats Brian horribly at the after-show party, but Tim comes to the rescue. After a day playing on a zombie computer game, a bowl of Twiglets has brought out Tim's violent tendencies. Meanwhile, Daisy has an interview with Flaps, a hip women's magazine, but fails miserably. The traumatic experience leads her to put on some performance art of her own. First broadcast: 8th Oct 1999 4. Battles Daisy is dumped by her boyfriend Richard (James Lance). He is studying at university in Hull and can no longer cope with having a girlfriend in London. Daisy, in need of some friendship and companionship, goes to the pound with Twist to get a dog, Colin, not realising that Tim is terrified of dogs. This fear goes back to childhood, when he was chased down an alley by a pack of pooches. Meanwhile, Tim and Mike go paintballing, and come face to face with Duane Benzie (Peter Serafinowicz), the man who Tim's ex-girlfriend Sarah left him for. The battle commences, but who will become the fatality? First broadcast: 15th Oct 1999 5. Chaos Daisy is distraught when her beloved dog Colin goes missing when Tim takes him out for a late-night walk. She thinks Tim deliberately got rid of him, but they receive a note tipping them off that Colin has been dognapped by an evil gang of vivisectionists. Mike, Brian and Twist are called, and the troop set out on an undercover crack rescue mission. First broadcast: 22nd Oct 1999 6. Epiphanies Tyres (Michael Smiley) is a ravehead courier who Tim regularly uses to ferry his artwork. Tyres drops in to 23 Meteor Street and invites Tim and Daisy out for a night of clubbing. They round up Mike, Brian and Twist and go to an underground club, dancing the night away to a classic A-Team remix. Meanwhile, Tim and Daisy are still keeping up the pretence of being a couple for Marsha. First broadcast: 29th Oct 1999 7. Ends Is Daisy and Tim's idyllic life about to be shattered? A phone call from Tim's ex Sarah puts a spanner in the works when she tells him she wants to meet up. Tim is delighted at the thought of getting back with the love of his life, but Mike and Daisy are worried he will be hurt again. Mike is up for a re-evaluation for the Territorial Army. He was kicked out some time before for driving a tank through the centre of Paris, but he is very keen to re-acquaint himself with his former pals, and is over the moon when he is accepted again. Tim meets up with Sarah - but will he see sense and go back to his friends? First broadcast: 5th Nov 1999 Series 1 | Series 2 |
