The Smoking Room - About Series 2

BBC Three’s award winning comedy The Smoking Room returned to BBC3 for a second and final series in 2005. This second series saw the return of everyone's favourite characters to their office hideout united by both their shared love of nicotine and lack of love for their work.

Robin thought his unrequited love for Ben from the Post Room may finally pay off when he discovered he’s split from his girlfriend, while the fellow smokers discovered what could be the secret history behind Sharon and Barry’s tense working relationship.

Meanwhile Sharon accused everyone of vandalism in her quest to find out who smashed a window and daubed the walls with insults and April Fools Day pranks did nothing to improve the cheer of the smoky retreat. Also, rather ironically the smoking room was used to host a no smoking seminar.

The BBC have announced that there will be not be commissioning a third series. A source told Broadcast Magazine in September 2006 that the decision was a result of an "amicable discussion" with writer Brian Dooley, adding: "It was not a story of a controller saying that the show didn't work." Dooley is moving on to another, unnamed, BBC project.
