Synopsis:

An asylum sits in the English countryside; a asylum where the staff really don't seem to be any better than their patients...

BSG Review:

Even for a black comedy, Asylum is unnecessarily overly surreal and strange. It fails comedically on many levels, relying too heavily on the 'strange' rather than the actually funny.

Further, there seems to be little plot. Whatever the intention(s) of the writers, the final product feels more like a vehicle (whose wheels have just fallen off) for the cast, many of whom are stand-up comedians.

A promising shell conceals a very disappointing programme.

Notes:

The Spaced creative team of Simon Pegg, Jessica Stevenson and Edgar Wright first met whilst working on Asylum.
