More About "The Sitcom Showdown"

The Sitcom Showdown was a gameshow series on UK TV Gold in which fanatical members of the public teamed up with their mates and some well-known faces to extol the virtues of their favourite sitcoms. And the prize? Complete capture of the remote control and being able to triumphantly send their show out on the UKTV Gold airwaves at 7pm.

The first wrestle of wits sees the Absolutely Fabulous fans clash with the those supporting 'Allo 'Allo. The "Bolly vs Brioche" episode, if you prefer! With typical verve, host Danny Baker launches in to round one - a quickfire session of clips and Q&A - and potential for the teams to get on the road to sitcom glory. The next round plays call my bluff with some quirky nuggets of sitcom history: opposing teams have to guess which of the eccentric comedies being described made it onto British telly.

Finally, and firmly casting dignity aside, the two teams have to take to the floor to re-enact scenes from their nominated shows, before finding out who's won the chance to take over the sitcom schedules!
