VI) - First broadcast 1993 |
1. Psirens
While trying to search for Red Dwarf, the crew encounter
a large number of space ships floating in space. They want
to find out what brought them down, so they watch a black
box recording from one of the ships. They see a man being
eaten alive by a creature called a 'Psiren.' When Red Dwarf
crashes onto a planet and Lister has to unlodge the ship from
rocks, the crew end up being subjected to a nightmare with
the creatures!
|
Best Quote: The crew are trying to decide
which is Lister, because they know one has to be the
psiren.
Rimmer - "Play the guitar."
Lister - "Here? Inside?"
Rimmer -"Play it."
[The first Lister belts out a brilliant tune on the
electric guitar. The crew shoot him with the bazookoids.]
Lister - "How did you know that wasn't me?"
Cat - "Cos that dude could play!" |
First broadcast: 7th Oct 1993

2. Legion
A un-identified space object beams Red Dwarf into it's path
and when they get on board there seems to be no life forms
around. That is, until, Legion suddenly appears. He seems
to want only the best for the crew, and makes sure they get
everything they ever desired. Soon, the Dwarfers start to
wonder why he is so keen to please. Of course, only Kryten
guessed that he was made up of each different part of their
personalities.
|
Best Quote: Lister reads a magazine while
chomping on some grilled space weevil!
Lister - "Some smegger's filled in this
'Have You Got A Good Memory' quiz."
Kryten - "But that was you, sir. Last week.
Don't you remember?"
Lister - "Was it?"
Kryten - "Hmm. Look: Nobody else spells
"Thursday" with an "F". |
First broadcast: 14th Oct 1993

3. Gunmen of the Apocalypse
When a simulant ship puts a virus in Red Dwarf's computers,
Kryten decides to contract the virus himself to find a cure.
As the rest of the crew watch his dreams, his mind seems to
have been turned the virus into some sort of Western film.
Kryten is the sheriff in a town, but is told to leave by his
enemies. Lister, Cat and Rimmer decide to use the Artificial
Reality machine to go into Kryten's dreams and help him. Of
course, they do have to remind him of why he's there when
they get there!
|
Best Quote: When Kryten appears to be losing
the battle against the virus, the crew wonder what they
can do to help.
Cat - "Isn't there some way we can get
in there and help him? Somehow turn ourselves into tiny
electronic people and get into his dream? Isn't there
some sort of gizmo lying around someplace that can do
that? And if not (punches hand) why not?!"
Rimmer - "Look, I think we've all got something
we can bring to this discussion. But I think from now
on the thing you should bring is silence." |
First broadcast: 21st Oct 1993
|
4. Emohawk - Polymorph 2
When Red Dwarf crashes into a Gelf zone, and they need new
engine parts, they have no alternative but to go out and brave
the fearsome and ugly "Kinitawowi" tribe. They do
manage to bargain enough to enter their camp, but unfortunately
it seems they're going to have to sell a little bit more for
the OG unit they need....
|
Best Quote: Kryten realises that very little
survived Starbug's crash.
Kryten - "Well, at least Mr Lister's guitar
survived intact."
[The Cat takes it from him and smashes it on the floor.]
Kryten - "Not even Mr Lister's guitar survived
intact." |
First broadcast: 28th Oct 1993
|
5. Rimmerworld
When the Dwarfers discover the crashed Simulant ship that
they destroyed, they decide to go on board and recover some
of their food supplies. Unfortunately, when they get there,
a dying female simulant jumps out on them with a bazookoid
gun. Rimmer has the chance to save the crew, but instead chooses
to save his own life and takes the escape pod. He ends up
stranded on a planet for 600 years and in that time recreates
a whole population of Rimmers!
|
Best Quote: Lister trying to talk the Simulant
round.
Lister - "Actually, as far as psychotically
deranged ruthless killer simulants go, you're a bit
of a babe! What are you doing tonight?
Simulant - "Dying! Care to join me?" |
First broadcast: 4th Nov 1993
|
6. Out Of Time
When Red Dwarf receives a signal from another ship, they
discover that it's their future selves. Kryten tells the crew
that they should not reply in case something awful has happened
to them later on. Eventually, he invites them on board himself
and talks to them. Later, it's proved that it wasn't a good
idea because they threaten to slay their younger selves. Strangely,
it ends up to be only Rimmer who can save the day....
|
Best Quote: After going through an un-reality
pocket, the crew believe Lister to be a mechanoid.
Cat - "This is gonna crack him up. Devastate
him. Who's gonna tell him?"
Rimmer - "I'll write you into my will if
you let it be me!" |
