IV) - First broadcast 1991 |
1. Camille
When Kryten rescues "Camille" from a crashed spaceship,
he sees her as another Mechanoid and falls in love with her
at first sight. When Lister sees her, he sees a girl that
looks like Kochanski, when Rimmer sees her, he sees another
hologram and the Cat, being so vain, sees himself! She is
a pleasure gelf, and can morph into what the person looking
at her desires. When she actually reveals herself as a hideous
green blob, Kryten is not put off. He takes her to dinner,
dances with her, even takes her to the cinema. His happiness
is shattered though when he discovers that she is already
married....

Kryten - "Uh, listen, I -- I know this
is going to sound like a corny line, but has anyone
ever told you that the configuration and juxtaposition
of your features is extraordinarily apposite?"
Camille - "You really know all the lines,

2. DNA
The crew get a trace of an unidentified craft containing
a DNA alteration machine. It can re-write any living thing's
DNA and turn them into something else. The Cat, being Cat,
accidentally turns Lister into a chicken and a hamster and
then Kryten into a human. Kryten feels happy, because being
human was what he'd always wanted, but he soon realises it's
not all it's cracked up to be.

Kryten - "I want to know is that normal?"
Lister - "What? Taking photographs of it
and showing it to your mates? No, it's not!"

3. Justice
The crew recover an escape pod onto the ship with what should
have been a woman inside. However, it was released from a
prison ship carrying psychopathic prisoners and they couldn't
be sure whether it was a woman or a prisoner inside. Calling
to a prison ship, they go on board to use their facilities
and see what is in the pod. When they arrive, they are entered
into the Justice field. It searches for any crimes the Dwarfers
may have committed and lets them walk free on the complex
if they are innocent. However although many people thought
Lister was going to get into trouble, they never expected
Rimmer to be a criminal!

4. White Hole
The crew decide it's time to increase Holly's IQ seeing as
it is supposed to be about 6,000. While Kryten works out how
to do it, the ship encounter a white hole. They need to ask
Holly about it, but unfortunately her new IQ reduces her lifespan
to only a few minutes. The only way to reverse this is to
play a game of pool with planets. Thank god Lister's an expert
at it!

Lister - "We don't LIKE muffins around
here! We want no muffins, no toast, no teacakes, no
buns, baps, baguettes or bagels, no croissants, no crumpets,
no pancakes, no potato cakes and no hot-cross buns and
DEFINITELY no smegging flapjacks!"

5. Dimension Jump
In an alternate universe, we see another Arnold Rimmer. He's
a test pilot in the Space Corps, and is more fondly named
"Ace." When Red Dwarf collides with Ace's space
ship, leaving them stranded in a storm, he bravely goes into
save them and repair the Cat's broken leg. We also meet Cat's,
Holly's, Lister's and Kryten's alternative personalities in
his universe. Lister is known as "Spanners", Cat
is a Jamaican "Padre", Holly is "Melly"
and Kryten is "Bongo."

Dwarf crashes.
Lister - "Kryten, get the First Aid box.
We have to clean this up, make sure he doesn't get gangrene."
Cat - "Gangrene? You think I might get gangrene?"
Lister - "Yeah."
Cat - "Hey, that might work! Green with
apricot - I think I could pull that off!" |

6. Meltdown
Kryten discovers a matter transporter and transports the
crew to 'Waxworld' - a theme park full of waxdroids. Rimmer,
finally feeling he's found his place, decides to train the
good characters to fight in a war against the bad characters.
Of course Rimmer being Rimmer, he takes everything too far
and ends up killing his army as well as the enemy.

and Lister to Starbug, but ends up taking them to the
shower cubicle by mistake!
Kryten - "I'm sorry about that sir. I neglected
to engage the depth function."
Lister - "We'll walk, Kryten. We'll walk." |
