The British Sitcom Guide is changing. This summer we will be re-launching as the British Comedy Guide!
The team behind the BSG have spent over nine months working on the system that will power this new site! The aim is to enhance and expand the BSG's situation comedy content, and branch out into giving other genres of comedy the same passionate and dedicated coverage (hence the need to re-name the site). The British Comedy Guide will also offer a number of new free services - expect to find things like DVD wish lists, visitor polls and video clips on the new site.
Here's a summary of what you can expect when The British Sitcom Guide is re-launched as The British Comedy Guide this summer...
More Shows
The website won't exclusively be about situation comedies any more - there will be guides to comedy dramas, films, sketch shows, radio comedy, stage productions, standup acts and much more too! At last we can write about legendary comedies like The Morecambe and Wise Show (pictured).
More In-Depth
The existing sitcom guides will be expanded to include details on things like audience ratings, press coverage, repeat times, soundtracks and filming locations.
To see a preview of what they're going to be like see our new My Family guide
Cast & Crew Profiles
The new website won't just be about shows - there will be guides to the people behind the comedy too. Biographies, contact details, CVs and more!
More Interactivity
New functionality will allow you to interact with the website in more ways. For instance you'll be able to add your own reviews to programme guides and vote for the best/worst comedies.
DVD Database
The BSG has been quietly building up a database of comedy DVDs. This database will be made accessible for the first time via The British Comedy Guide, along with features like a wish list alert system.
Videos
1,000s of comedy clips (in some cases entire episodes) will be published on the new site. Re-watch classic scenes and discover new comedy.
With hundreds of sitcom entries to expand, and thousands of new guides to research and create we are looking to recruit an army of contributors to help us.
We're hoping to get help from people will all kinds of passions and skills - if you'd like to write about your favourite comedies, interview famous stars, become a news reporter for us, review DVDs or get involved in the new site in another way we'd love to hear from you.
