| BSG Review: |
In this sitcom Penelope Keith plays another snob (as she did so well in The Good Life) and proves to be just as popular. When first shown, To the Manor Born attracted huge viewing figures - as many as 24 million watched the love between the pair slowly grow. Many now would find the sitcom a little slow with jokes few and far between however it can't be denied that TTMB appealed to a huge chunk of the previous generation and represents the golden age of gentle, warm traditional English comedy.
The series is probably best watched without the one-off 2007 Christmas special reunion episode. Whilst it gained great viewing figures it really wasn't a patch on the original episodes. |
