The League of Gentlemen Characters
Below is a list of the main characters the League play in the three series of The League of Gentlemen.
Key to brackets: MG = Mark Gatiss, SP = Steve Pemberton, RS = Reece Shearsmith. 'S' stands for 'series'.
- Al - The eldest son of pervy entrepreneur Pop (MG, S: 1&2).
- Ally - the horror film fan who has "sin" everything (SP, S: 1&2).
- Alvin Steele - Owns the Windermere Hotel with his swinger wife Sunny (MG, S: 2&3, pictured right).
- Andrew Ward - Trussed up as a scarecrow for having an affair with Farmer Tinsel's wife (MG, S1).
- Anne Hand - The dim-witted companion of Terry Lollard. Has an obsession with Tuesdays (SP, S3).
- Anthony "Neds" Needham - The sweet but dim Knight Rider fan who just loves to fight crime (MG, S3).
- Ava De Courcey - Wealthy older lady whose poorly pooch dies at the hands of Dr Chinnery (SP, S2).
- Barbara Dixon - Pre-op transsexual owner of Bab's Cabs (Voice: SP, S: 1-3).
- Mr Bamford - The terminally ill patient being treated at St Bethlehem's during the nosebleed epidemic (MG, S2).
- Barrington "Barry" Baggs -Obese food-obsessed debt collector (SP, S3).
- Benjamin Denton - The nephew of Val and Harvey Denton (RS, S: 1&2).
- Bernice Woodall - Vasey's foul-mouthed vicar and agony aunt (RS, S: 1-3).
- Bob Chagall - Keyboard player for Seventies rockers Crème Brulee (SP, S2).
- Bobby Hart - The owner of a poorly Koi carp (RS, S2).
- Brian Morgan - businessman, friend of Geoff Tipps and Mike Harris (MG, S: 1-3).
- Cathy Carter-Smith - Restart officer and Pauline's replacement at the Job Centre (RS, S2).
- Charlie Hull - Husband of Stella, and professional masseuse (SP, S: 1-3).
- Chris Frost - Store detective. Most likely to say "Chalk it up!" (RS, S2).
- Daddy - Sexual scientist and inventor of the Medusa machine (SP, S3).
- Dave Parkes - Actor in Legz Akimbo Theatre Company (SP, S: 1-3).
- David Tattsyrup - Edward and Tubbs' son (MG, S: 1-2).
- Dean Tavalouris - Geeky amateur magician, like a mix between Derren Brown and David Blaine (RS, S3).
- Don Lynch - Formidable club manager (MG, S3).
- Dr Edgar Fish - a doctor at St Bethlehem's Hospital who diagnoses patients with the titles of films (RS, S2).
- Edward Tattsyrup - Owns the Local Shop with his no-tail wife Tubbs (RS, S: 1-3).
- Ernest Foot - The tactless senior citizen who is always putting his foot in it (SP, S: 1&3).
- Prof Erno Breastpinch'd - Scary-looking market researcher (MG, S3).
- Farmer Tinsel - The vindictive farmer who captures his wife's lover (SP, S1).
- Geoff Tipps - Angry businessman who cannot deliver a joke; friend of Mike Harris and Brian Morgan (RS, S: 1-3).
- Gina Beasley - Grieving mother and Dr Carlton's long-suffering patient (MG, S: 2&3).
- Glenn Tilbrook Baggs - debt collector (MG, S3).
- Harvey Denton - Toad lover and hygiene freak (SP, S@ 1&2).
- Henry Portrait - Horror film fan who cannot stand Bradley Pitts (RS, S: 1&2).
- Herr Wolf Lipp - German exchange teacher, hailing from Duisberg (SP, S2, pictured right).
- Hilary Briss - The demon butcher of Vasey (MG, S: 1&2).
- Iain Cashmore - Single man looking for love at Attachments Dating Agency (SP, S2).
- Inspector Shakespeare - local police officer (SP, S1).
- Dr Ira Carlton - The most unsympathetic doctor one could imagine (SP, S3).
- Iris Krell - Judee Levinson's common housekeeper (MG, S: 1-3).
- Jeanette Stevens - A private patient of Dr Carlton (RS, S3).
- Jed Hunter - The director of the Greenwoods Orange Juice ad who auditions Pam Doove (SP, S: 2&3).
- Joseph Nigel Lisgoe - The nasty debt collector boss of Barry and Glenn (RS, S3).
- Judee Levinson - Glamorous rich woman who is finding it hard to get over the death of her husband (RS, S: 1-3).
- Judith Buckle - An employee of the garden centre and lover of Alvin Steele (RS, S3).
- Keith Drop - The odd-looking, feminine charity shop worker (RS, S3).
- Kenny Harris - The owner of Vasey's Dog Cinema (MG, S3).
- Lance Longthorne - The one-armed Joke Shop owner who is far from funny (MG, S: 1&3).
- Lee Scott - The husband of Stella's friend (MG, Christmas Special only).
- Les McQueen - Fading Seventies singer, ex-member of Eurovision hopefuls Crème Brulee (MG, S: 1-3).
- Lotte Lipp - The wife of Herr Lipp and the owner of the most pointed pair of breasts in Vasey (MG, S2).
- Dr Lucas Wesley - another doctor at St Bethlehem's Hospital who diagnoses patients by referring to film titles (SP, S: 2-3).
- Martin Lee - Hiking friend of Benjamin Denton who meets a sticky end at the Local Shop (MG, S1).
- Mary Hobbs - housewife (SP, S2).
- Dr Matthew Chinnery - Bungling but well-meaning veterinarian. Most likely to say "I'm afraid I've got some rather upsetting news" (MG, S: 1&2)
- Matthew Parker - The cherubic, innocent choirboy who becomes the object of Herr Lipp's affections (RS, Xmas Special Only).
- Maurice Evans - Local magistrate and special stuff addict (SP, S: 1&2).
- Mick McNamara - The guide at Stump Hole Caverns, Vasey's second best showcase (MG, S1).
- Mickey M Michaels - dole scum job seeker. Wants to be a fireman (MG, S: 1-3, pictured right).
- Mike Harris - businessman, friend of Geoff Tipps and Brian Morgan (SP, S: 1-3).
- Mike King - cheesy hospital radio DJ (RS, S: 2&3).
- Murray Mint - Mayor Larry Vaughn's assistant (MG, S2).
- Nancy Glass - The over-bearing stage step-mother of Emma Casey Glass (SP, S3).
- Noel Glass - Emma's father and Nancy's husband (RS, S3).
- Olive Kilshaw - The slightly smug employee at Attachments Dating Agency (RS, S2).
- Ollie Plimsolls - Bitter actor, and the founder of Legz Akimbo Theatre Company (RS, S: 1-3).
- Owen Fallowfield - The morgue worker who appears only once (MG, S3).
- Pamela Doove - Aspiring actress who spectacularly fails at her auditions for the Greenwoods Orange Juice advert (RS, S: 2&3).
- Papa Lazarou - Freaky circus ringmaster who collects wives wherever he goes (RS, S: 2&3, pictured right).
- Patch Lafeyette - The drummer in Crème Brulee (RS, S2).
- Pauline Campbell-Jones - Forty-eight year old restart officer (SP, S: 1-3).
- Peter Foot - The OAP obsessed with his own funeral (RS, S3).
- Phil Proctor - An actor with Legz Akimbo Theatre Company (MG, S: 1-3).
- Pop - Greek newsagent and perverted landlord (SP, S: 1-3).
- Reenie Calver - Carrier bag obsessed charity shop worker (SP, S: 2&3).
- Reg Ingleby - The world's smallest escapologist.
- Rich - The younger son of Pop and brother to Al (RS, S1).
- Ross Gaines - Evil undercover Job Centre worker (RS, S: 1-3).
- Samuel Chignell - local councillor and special stuff addict (RS, S: 1&2).
- Sheila Foot - Peter Foot's wife (MG, S3).
- Shirley Shelley - an assistant at Vasey's famous Dog Cinema (RS, S3).
- Dr Simon - Doctor who really doesn't like card games, especially Go Johnny Go Go Go Go (MG, S2).
- Dr Singleton Boothby - The Victorian vet (RS, Xmas Special).
- Stella Hull - The bitter wife of Charlie (RS, S: 1-3).
- Terry Lollard - door-to-door Christian (RS, S3).
- Dr Timothy Majolica - Another Victorian vet (SP, Xmas Special).
- Tish Guppy - The Camden-obsessed fag hag who will bum a cig off you (SP, S3).

- Tubbs Tattsyrup - Owns the Local Shop with her husband and brother, Edward (SP, S: 1-3).
