BSG Review:

This sitcom, which is based loosely around Jack Dee's own life, has clearly been influenced by Curb Your Enthusiasm. The embarrassing situations Rick Spleen finds himself in couldn't be more British though.

We initially didn't think much of Lead Balloon however after watching a couple of episodes into the first series it quickly grew on us... and we're now big fans!

Lead Balloon demonstrates some great sitcom writing - the way different plot strands come together at the end of each episode is brilliant and there's some very sharp lines too ("Mother was great at making fruit cakes" is an example).

Cafe owner Michael is a classic sitcom character in the making - we often have to look away when Rick comes in close proximity to him as it is inevitably going to end in some embarrassing way; whether it be Rick trying to find a way out of sponsoring Michael or trying to explain how all the cafe's teaspoons ended up at his house.

It's great to hear Lead Balloon is coming back for a third season. The question is, can it can remain fresh and funny for another six episodes though or will the premise be stretched too far?
