Stand-up comedian, Mark has been left by his wife, Becky, for odious estate agent Trevor. Becky's rather simple, but loyal friends Tracy and Robert are caught in the crossfire.

Mark has to try and win Becky back, get his own back on Trevor as well as deal with hopeless Tracy and Robert and their ever-hysterical marriage.

Our Review: This is a fantastic, but disappointingly underrated sitcom from Steven Moffat (who went on to write Coupling and Doctor Who).

The format of the stand-up flashbacks leading into sections of story is a great narrative device and an inventive re-imagining of the voice-over.

Robert Bathurst is superb as the ever witty Mark, and complemented with a fantastic supporting cast.

But to be negative for a moment - this sitcom has two major problems... the stand-up routines are below par and un-realistic (Bathurst struggles to deliver the lines in a way a real stand-up would) and the opening title sequence is just awful.

That said, overall this programme ranks up there as one of the best farcical situation comedies of all time and should be checked out on DVD at the first opportunity.
