Jeeves and Wooster JEEVES AND WOOSTER

Jeeves and Wooster is a four-series comedy based on the novels and short stories of the Anglo-American writer P.G. Wodehouse (1881-1975). The episodes centre around Bertie Wooster, a wealthy young upper-class layabout, and his valet Jeeves, who is much smarter than his master and spends a great deal of his time getting Bertie out of trouble.

The third and fourth series exhibit a marked decline in quality, with frequent descents into the cartoonish. However, the Wodehousian plots and the interplay between Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry still manage to keep the program from sinking utterly into mediocrity. Compared to the heights of the first two series, series three and four are fairly poor efforts, but they still shine compared to most of what's on television. One thing is for sure, "Jeeves and Wooster" has had more cast changes between series than any other British sitcom, a look at our character guide shows just how many parts were played by more than one person.
