Cards

Having stayed at Bramble Lodge for one night, Sheldon heads for the exit door but Paul has other plans. He's found a friend and isn't about to let him go. He enlists Jean, the warden, and Sheldon becomes her special 'project'.

His reluctance disappears when she offers him £50 to do a few odd jobs around the place. And she goes one further: with the help of local copper Sergeant Swithenback, she decides Sheldon would make an excellent Special Constable. The training regime begins.

Gambling is against the rules at Bramble Lodge. Syd plans a poker game, although Dorothy is not invited to play because she always wins. Instead she holds Graham's cards and strangely enough, he seems to be on a winning streak.

Having stolen Sheldon's £50, and lost it at poker, Paul plans to expose the game to Jean in order to get out a tricky situation.

First broadcast: 10th October 2006

Birds

Dorothy fancies Bobby, the hairdresser who visits the lodge. Although the other residents think he's gay, Dorothy is convinced he's "just outgoing!".

Meanwhile Paul seems to have a soft spot for the local policewoman, PC Sarah Madden. Sheldon decides to set Paul up on a blind date, although he doesn't reveal to Paul who his date is with.

Swithenback is still trying to gain Jean's affection and gives her a spa voucher to treat herself. Paul spots the voucher lying on the table, steals it and treats himself to a tan! Syd claims he has been attacked by a goose, although the other residents of Bramble Lodge are sceptical about whether the goose exists.

Sheldon has promised to cook a meal for Paul's blind date. He decides that if he kills Syd's goose, he could use it in a curry and kill two birds with one stone!

First broadcast: 17th October 2006

Games

Sheldon is still sleeping on Paul's sofa and is keeping Paul awake with his snoring. Sheldon decides that Paul needs to relax to help him sleep and hatches a plan for his old friend Alison, a prostitute, to visit Bramble Lodge.

When Paul finds out that Sheldon has arranged for a prostitute to sleep with him, he's horrified and refuses to have anything to do with Alison. Alison is playing chess in the common room with Graham but, when the other male residents get wind of why she's there, there is an "I'm Spartacus" moment as they all claim to be Paul.

Jean finds out what is going on and is furious so Paul concocts a story to get them all off the hook. Meanwhile, Swithenback continues to find excuses to spend time at Bramble Lodge and be with Jean.

First broadcast: 24th October 2006

Crafts

It's the day of the craft fair to raise local awareness of Bramble Lodge. Rivalry between Paul and Syd rears its head over who can make the most money on their stall. Sheldon has his own problems, as the local scouts are helping out for the day and seem better at Sheldon's job than he is. Sheldon's worried that Jean will clock this and kick him out. Maybe there is a way for Sheldon and Paul to help each other?

First broadcast: 1st October 2006

Wheels

Paul is fed up with inconsiderate drivers, so when the disabled parking space outside Bramble Lodge is abused yet again, it's the final straw. Sheldon can't see the fuss until the police falsely accuse him of vandalising Jean's car, so he joins forces with Paul to make Sgt Swithenback take action over the parking space.

First broadcast: 8th October 2006

Curtains

Paul and Sheldon break into Jean's office and discover a letter which reveals the council's plans to close Bramble Lodge. Sheldon decides they should take action and the residents get together to organise a protest. Swithenback finally plucks up the courage to ask Jean out on a date, but her response is not what he was hoping for!
