| Synopsis: |
"Hancock's Half Hour" ran on the BBC for 7 series.
Anthony Aloysius St John Hancock (played by Tony Hancock)
was a loser whose plans and aspirations were being continually
ruined by bad luck, Sidney Balmoral James or, more often than
not, by his own pomposity and ambition.
Tony Hancock then left the BBC to produce a 13 part series
of "Hancock" for ITV and this was followed
a few years later by Hancock's, in which he played
the manager of a London night club.

| BSG Review: |
"Hancock's Half-Hour" is without a doubt one of
the most important British sitcoms of all time and is the
yardstick against which all subsequent comedies are measured.
Hancock's comic genius coupled with Galton and Simpson's
fabulously rich scripts allowed for classic episodes to be
created week in, week out.
Unfortunately though after series 7 (which many regard as
the best of Hancock) the services of writers Galton and Simpson
were arrogantly disposed of by Hancock thus starting his well-documented
decline (which sadly ended in suicide).
