This page contains information about all the various official Green Wing merchandise.

Green Wing: The Definitive Edition

8 Disc Collectors Edition 4DVD have now released a definitive 8 disc Green Wing Collectors' Edition DVD boxset.

This much anticipated release features all the episodes from series one, the complete series two, the one-off 90 minute special and a new bonus disc of previously un-seen material too. There's also a 32-page Green Wing booklet inside each boxset as well.

If you are wondering whether to buy this boxset, if you haven't got all the episodes on DVD already then your answer should be an unequivocal "yes, buy it". This release contains all 18 episodes along with hours and hours of bonus features. Anyone who already has the series individually will tell you that you really ought to own them all!

If you already have bought the previous GW DVDs the answer becomes a bit more tricky. You see, the first seven discs in this new boxset you'll already have (they've just the DVDs from the other boxsets re-packaged) - only one disc will be new to you. The decision as to whether to buy or not therefore boils down to whether you think it's worth trading in what you've already got (Amazon Marketplace will give you about £25 back for your current boxsets) to get the extra bonus DVD, the booklet and the neatness of having all the DVDs together in one box.

The bonus disc contains the following: a 15 minute documentary called Green Wing: The Phenomenon; about 30 minutes of never-seen-before deleted scenes; a spot-on musical spoof and some Green Wing Music. For an in-depth review of this disc's contents see our news page Go

The boxset is available to buy from Amazon, Play.com and HMV (see the links below)...

Green Wing - Music by Trellis

Soundtrack Silva Screen Records has released Green Wing - The Original Television Soundtrack (aka 'Green Wing OST' in some listings).

This CD contains 23 original tracks from the show, all of which you'll instantly recognise. From the rousing opening overture that is played over last week's highlights right through to that memorable little twang that is played during many a GW scene - all the classic Green Wing sounds are on this disc. Thanks to this CD we can now all finally dance along in our rooms pretending we're in East Hampton Hospital with the gang! (or is that just us?)

The tracks are: Last Week, Car Park, Vibrobedhead, Jolly Scarface, MoonAway, Acoustica, No Tune, Camel, Ouch, Sniff, Kinslide, Wig: a Wig, King Jelly, Fibre Troll, Kingston, Rhodespierre, Grammercy, Crab, Twang (original), Fibreoptik, Dark Kingston, No Hope and Logust.

You can purchase the CD from Silvascreen.co.uk or one of the retailers below...

Complete Second Series Scripts

Plans to bring out the second series script book have unfortunately been cancelled. Publisher Titan Books has said "Titan will not be going ahead with the publication of the second Green Wing Scriptbook. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause."

Complete First Series Scripts

Green Wing Series One Script book The first series scripts are available in this great offering from Titan Books. There's 320 pages of Green Wing content in all. The complete scripts from all nine episodes are included (with stage directions). The book is beautifully laid out with images of each scene inset and some of the best lines highlighted using pull-out quotes.

What makes this book special though is the extras that have been created by the GW writers especially for this publication. There's loads of little bits and pieces scattered throughout the book - our favourites are the email printouts of the conversation between Alan and Boyce (more).

To give you an idea of what it looks like inside we've scanned in a couple of pages: page 80 Opens in new window, page 81 Opens in new window (sorry about the poor quality and wonky angle). Looks great though doesn't it!

What makes this book special though is the extras that have been created by the GW writers especially for this publication. There's loads of little bits and pieces scattered throughout the book - our favourites are the email printouts of the conversation between Alan and Boyce.

There's loads more too: Has Caroline Todd succeeded in cooking a proper meal without using biscuits? You'll be able to take a look at her list of "Things to do by thirty-five" to find out. Discover what's on Sue White's desk – a lipstick-smeared copy of Mac's quarterly staff report perhaps? Find out if anyone has bothered to sign up for Alan Statham's 'proper' comedy club. See what Alan wrote in his beloved Joanna's birthday card! You can journey into Guy Secretan's depraved world and explore his profound musings on occasionally medical rhyming slang, gay men he would consider having a pint with, and much more too. Plus you'll also be able to read Joanna Clore's vicious post-it notes to the office girls. What insults has she written on Karen's annual review? What is her latest list of demands for long-suffering PA Kim? And most important of all, the book reveals who was the first love of Dr Mac!

The Special Episode on DVD

The Christmas Special This DVD features the 90 minute Special and a number of exclusive unseen extras including deleted scenes, an alternative ending plus a behind-the-scenes featurette and a cast and crew audio commentary. If you haven't got the other GW boxsets already you're probably best buying the definitive DVD (see above) as that contains this boxset and all the others. Anyway, here's a complete run down of what is on the DVD:

Episode Commentary: in the same vein as the commentary on previous Green Wing discs. Karl Theobald, Stephen Mangan and Tamsin Greig start things off. About a third of the way through they swap with Julian Rhind-Tutt, Pippa Haywood and Michelle Gomez. After a bit a couple of random Americans join in who've never seen the show before to give their view (they're Gomez's relations apparently?!?). Creator Victoria Pile comes in near the end too.

Deleted Scenes: 21 minutes of additional scenes that couldn't be squeezed into the broadcast episode. They're edited together very well and there's a couple of stand out funny moments. Sadly no out-takes though.

Alternative Ending: This provoked a lot of discussion on message boards prior to release - it's not a completely different ending. If you listen to the audio commentary there was clearly some argument about how the last couple of scenes should be edited together and presented to the viewer - the extra here is the edit which lost the vote. This alternative two and a half minutes long segment is less decisive than the broadcast version.

Behind the Scenes: A 16 minute featurette which goes behind the camera. The best section is the bit with the writers (there are interviews with Oriane Messina and James Henry). There's a look behind-the-series of the series two cliffhanger and scenes from the special. There's also a bit more about the two major stunts which appear in this special too.

Series 1 & 2 Boxset

Double Boxset!

Before the special was broadcast 4DVD released this double boxset. It's the series one and two boxsets put together into one larger box.

We'd suggest only buying this boxset if you've already got the special. This is because the definitive boxset (see the top of this page) also contains the final episode and extra features, and is only a fraction more expensive.

The DVDs above are in the Region 2 Format...

EU Flag European Fans: You can import the above DVDs from the UK as Europe is Region 2. See our buying guide for full details of how and where to buy from or just click through to the Amazon website via the link above as they ship to anywhere in Europe.

USA Flag American Fans: Only import the DVDs if your DVD player can support the Region 2 format or your PC can play R2 DVDs [more about DVD Regions Opens in popup window]. If you don't have a multi-region player or a DVD drive in your PC we're afraid you're going to have to wait for a release in your region - sorry! If you can play R2 DVDs but are holding out for a R1 release we're afraid to say that, according to 4DVD, there are still "currently no plans to release a boxset in the States". As a result of this we suggest now is probably the time to end the waiting game and import the definitive boxset from the Amazon - you see it now looks unlikely America will ever get a comprehensive release, or even any release at all. Sorry.

OZ and NZ OZ & NZ - Only import the DVDs if your DVD player can support the Region 2 format or your PC can play R2 DVDs [more about DVD Regions Opens in popup window]. If you don't have a multi-region player or a DVD drive in your PC we're afraid you're going to have to wait for a release in your region - sorry! The good news is that you might not have to wait too long. Its only an un-confirmed rumour so don't get too excited, however we hear there may be plans to release a Region 4 DVD. Stay tuned for more details!
