1. Good Luck, Father Ted
The first ever episode, in which Ted, Dougal, Jack, and Mrs
Doyle are introduced. 'Faith of our Fathers' is coming to
film on the island, and wants to talk to the local priest.
Desperate to acquire all the limelight himself, Ted attempts
to conceal the existence of Dougal and Jack, but his deceit
is thwarted by the visiting 'Funland'. A fortune teller, the
'Crane of Death', the 'Tunnel of Goats' and a 'Spider Baby'
all add up to leave Ted in position quite different to that
he envisaged.
First broadcast: 21st April 1995

2. Entertaining Father Stone
For the past six years, Father Paul Stone has been arriving
to visit the priests every summer. Unfortunately, Father Stone
is the most boring man imaginable, a "wall with a moustache"
who stifles conversation, and rarely does anything. After
weeks of his company, Ted prays for his removal, but after
a stereotypical act of divine intervention, he feels guilty
when the extent of Father Stone's devotion to him is revealed
(the picture he painted hangs above the parochial house fireplace
in subsequent episodes). We also get a rare glimpse of Ted's
background when we learn that his brother is a doctor.
[ Look out for the birthday scene. The priest who asks
if anyone would like a lift is writer Arthur Matthews, whilst
the tall priest by the door putting his hand up is his writing
partner Graham Linehan. ]
First broadcast: 28th April 1995

3. The Passion of Saint Tibulus
The Passion of Saint Tibulus, a film mixing a Norwegian Saint
with hardcore pornography has been banned by the Pope. Due
to a legal loophole, however, the film is showing on Craggy
Island and Bishop Brennan orders Ted and Dougal to make a
protest, outlining the Catholic Church's position. Unfortunately
the priests soon discover that all publicity is good publicity,
leaving their future on the island in doubt.
First broadcast: 5th May 1995

4. Competition Time
The 'All Priests Stars in their Eyes Look-alike Competition'
has come around again, and Ted hopes to beat his long time
rival Dick Byrne (who we first meet in this episode) with
a skilful Elvis impersonation. His plans are endangered, however,
by the less than fertile imaginations of Dougal and Jack.
Minor celebrity and former quiz-show host Henry Sellers arrives
on the island to judge, but his secret alcoholism is soon
discovered. With all this going on, will Ted be able to triumph,
or will Rugged Island's Diana Ross and two of the Supremes
take home the trophy?
First broadcast: 12th May 1995

5. And God Created Woman
Female author Polly Clarke arrives on the island, and Ted's
suppressed hormones are aroused (even if she calls him Father
Curly). He also has to deal, however, with Dougal's fear of
women, Mrs Doyle's dislike (and virulent quoting) of Clarke's
books, and a contingent of nuns who have arrived to hear him
say Mass. Will Ted obtain his desires, or will he end up covered
in crisps, frustrated, bleeding, humiliated and pulling Dougal
out of a sofa?
First broadcast: 19th May 1995

6. Grant Unto Him Eternal Rest
During a visit to the island by Sister Monica, Father Jack
is discovered to have died after consuming an entire bottle
of 'Purge' floor polish. Following Dougal's botched attempt
at giving the last rites, and a very emotional wake, Jack's
solicitor arrives (although not to sell coal). Jack has left
Ted and Dougal half a million pounds, provided they spend
a night with him in the crypt. Will Ted get the money that
he so desires, or will his quoting of Joyce work a miracle?
First broadcast: 26th May 1995
