Right, well, I am a student. A student, between Universities. Due to personal, yet boring, reasons, I was forced to leave UCL and move to Sussex (nearer to home). Rather than waste away, in front of the television (or as I like to call it, researching) waiting for the academic year to begin, I decided to attend a writing class. I always presumed writing would be a part of my future in one way or another, so felt this was a productive way to spend my evenings. After ten weeks of being told what to write, every rebellious bone in my body was screaming to get started on something that was completely mine, something I’d actually enjoy writing. Comedy.

Like most of the population, I have always been one of those people who talk about writing. One of those people who talks, but does not do. Not anymore though, gosh darn it. I have recently completed the first episode of a "6 part sitcom" draft.

After repeatedly hearing in response to voicing my secret desire to write sitcoms, "but you're not funny", I decided focusing on production instead was a wise idea. Luckily for the writing community, I have decided that in fact, I am funny. Hilariously so. As long as there is another ‘me’ out there somewhere, then there is at least one other person in the world who will agree. Besides my mother.

My most influential source has to be Victoria Pile, the creative visionary, co-writer and producer of Green Wing. Watching the, behind the scenes extracts, off the DVD, was the straw that broke the camel’s back. The camel being the notion that my first passion was to be a serious political journalist. I could not deny my love for comedy or the whole process of producing it anymore.

I am fascinated by what makes people laugh. Writing offers me the chance, to experiment with different forms of humour, learn first hand about the structure of comedy and potential understand human beings a little bit more.

As my future stands, I am still very much interested in producing, however, my ultimate aim would be to do both. Writing and producing. Simple eh.
