League of Gentlemen, I'm Alan Partridge, Lead Balloon, stuff like that. Nighty Night, Saxondale, even Hyperdrive - it's some (but by no means all) of the kinds of comedy that inspires me to put finger to keyboard...which has resulted in some good material over several years. I even got close, via some on-spec sketches, to 'Alistair McGowan's Big Impression'. How close, you can ask him yourself, care of VERA Prods.
Most recently I've had interest from Martin Jarvis's production company. Let's see what happens.
I'm good with dialogue and can shift mood and tone neatly to suit scene requirements but endless swearing bugs me - and there are always alternatives. (Incidentally, as an example of great cuss-free standup but with no loss of impact, see Seinfeld's DVD 'Live on Broadway: I'm Telling you One Last Time'). Small note: there are always alternatives if, of course, I can be God Damn fucking arsed to find them.
What do I think sets me apart from other writers? Well, you can be the judge of that. Don't be coy, get in touch, ask to see a sample script or sketch or dialogue or whatever. At the very least my grammar and spelling's good.
I'm also in the process of writing decent standup for an as yet unknown performer. (That's not me, by the way, I only do wedding and anniversary speeches.) So...starting out and need to find a voice or an attitude? I can help.

Oh, yes, and I'm 44 - which sort of seems old, but I certainly don't feel it. Anyway, it's a great age for the absorpsion of life experience, ie, material. So go on pro-creatives, "you know my name, look up the..." (hardly a target age reference, but hey, what the heck)
