Yup, that's a photo of me with the Emperor Caligula, the most underrated comedian there ever was.

I'm currently a twenty year old student at the University of Edinburgh, two years into a Classical Studies degree. That's Cut Price Classics without the languages but retaining the gloomy fascination with chaps that died several millennia ago. This, unsurprisingly, makes me a moody son-of-a-parent and my comedy veers towards the respectably morbid. I'm also frightfully English so, like Hancock and Reginald Perrin, I'm forever frustrated, useless and eleven minutes late.

The majority of my time is spent working at a local student theatre where I first began doing comedy shows regularly two years ago. Within those two years I have written and directed two sketch shows and two comedy plays with my third sketch show to be performed at the Edinburgh Fringe this year - "How to be Horrid: A Sketch Show" - and my third play scheduled for performance in October. During that time I have also acted in a variety of plays and made wild, inaccurate stabs at fulfilling my degree.

I enjoy writing full length shows as well as short sketches but, sadly, am not certain how to start making the leap from amateur theatre to a slightly more professional plane, be it radio, television or further stage work. Though I work alongside several regular actors and contributors I generally write alone, with inspiration gained from chatting with friends far wittier and lazier than I am. I also love writing comedy prose but, besides the odd publication in student magazines, haven't really pursued the matter (a dusty manuscript on my hard drive is tantamount to that). Though I can write good sex gags like the best of them, I try to steer clear of being too crude in my work in an effort to widen its audience. I'd say my shows are generally 12A certificate. Thereabouts.

In short: I write sketches, plays and prose and adore performing comedy whenever I get the chance. I currently direct if it helps me to achieve any of these ends.
