Dad's Army follows the Walmington-On-Sea Home Guard commanded
by Captain Mainwaring and his assistant Sergeant Wilson. The
large platoon are totally ill-prepared for an attack from the
Nazis and none are fit to fight. Private Frazer is a moaning
Scotsman, Lance Corporal Jones is far too old and mummy's boy
Private Pike is only just out of school.
Dad's Army is widely regarded as one of the best British sitcoms
ever made (it was voted Britain's fourth best sitcom ever
in a TV poll). It certainly has spurred many memorable
catch-phrases including "Don't Panic!", "They
don't like it up 'em!" as well as created many classic
and hilarious scenes such as "Don't tell em Pike!".
The scripts were all well written and the long running sub-plots
(such as Wilson dating Pike's mum) add to the fun. A must see
