The Complete Series 1 & 2 of Joking Apart will be available together for the first time on DVD from the 17th March 2008.
Created by BAFTA winning writer Steven Moffat (whose other credits include Coupling, Press Gang and Dr Who), Joking Apart is one of The British Sitcom Guide's favourite 90s comedies. For the uninitiated, the two series follow the life of witty comedy writer Mark Taylor (Robert Bathurst). Mark knows he has found the woman of his dreams when, by chance, he meets Becky Johnson in highly embarrassing circumstances. Becky (Fiona Gillies) is won over by his non-stop, quick-fire one liners, and following a brief but ever eventful romance, they giggle their way up the aisle. But five years down the line, Mark hasn't noticed that the joke has worn thin and that the laughter track on their marriage has run out.
Joking Apart is laugh-out-loud stuff (see YouTube 
for clips), and should definitely be part of every comedy fan's DVD collection.
The DVDs are being released in March by the remarkable Replay label (read about Replay's unique background here). All twelve episodes are present, each of which has been painstakingly re-mastered to enhance picture quality. Extras include the original Comic Asides pilot, plus audio commentaries from Robert Bathurst, Steven Moffat, and other cast and crew.
