Acorn Media is delighted to announce the release of the long-anticipated, much loved comedy classic Dear Ladies starring the uproarious Hinge and Bracket.
This hugely popular series was originally screened on the BBC in 1983 and recounts tales of everyday life in the small English village of Stackton Tressel, the home of the delightful Doctor and Dame. This is a genteel world of cucumber sandwiches, bell ringing, bowls tournaments, church fetes and old-fashioned values interspersed with a heavy dose of double entendres and recitals of Gilbert & Sullivan, Noel Coward and Ivor Novello.
Written by Giles Brandreth, alongside George Logan and Patrick Fyffe, Dear Ladies Series One, featuring six half hour episodes, is now available for the first time on DVD.
Dr Evadne Hinge and Dame Hilda Bracket were a hugely successful comedy double act played by George Logan and Patrick Fyffe, respectively, whose popular TV and radio appearances spanned three decades. The elderly pair, Bracket, an intellectual soprano and Hinge a pianist played and sang songs to hilarious effect. They are one of the most successful drag acts ever, with their show so convincing people thought they were in fact women and the pair have achieved cult status over the years.
