My Name Is Harry Worth

On November 20th 1917 at 47 Fitzwilliam Street, Hoyland Common, Near Barnsley the world was introduced to Harry Bourlon Illingsworth, aka Harry Worth. Little did his parents know then that any confusion, mayhem or disruption he may have caused entering this world would pale in to insignificance to that which was to follow in later years. In 1958 he was spotted by producer John Ammonds and was given his first TV show. The rest, as they say, is history.

16 years after Harry's death his story has finally been told. Written by Roy Baines and published by MRA Publishing it tells the story of the miner that went on to become of of the country's most popular entertainers of the 60's & 70's.

There are over 50 illustrations and 77 pages which will bring back happy memories of this much loved comedian. With a foreword by producer John Ammonds there are contributions from Michael Grade CBE, Jimmy Cricket, William G Stewart & Debbie Cumming. Re-live the days that had people searching for that special shop window to copy his famous trademark!
