All about the British Sitcom Guide
This new site will allow the editorial team to end its self-imposed tight remit on covering just sitcoms, and start to provide in-depth guides to comedy dramas, films, sketch shows, radio comedy and other forms of British comedy too. Although the expansion focus will mainly be on generating more in-depth and generally better programme guides, the new website will also see the launch of some new features - DVD wishlists and the ability for visitors to publish their own reviews on the site are just two features that are coming. To find out more about the plans see comedy.org.uk As we're now just a couple of months away from launching we have started to transfer some of our pages over to the new website. For example, our My Family guide is now on the new website. As you'll notice, not only is our new guide format better looking, but it also allows us to go much more in-depth (for example we're now recording details like audience ratings and guest cast and crew too). The eventual aim is for our new website to provide an in-depth guide to every comedy ever made. It is a very ambitious target and one which will take many, many years to get even close to, however the editorial team is of the firm belief that with the help of our site visitors it will be possible to achieve. If you are interested in getting involved please find out more about contributing If you have any feedback, concerns or questions about the plans do post on our message board or get in touch. The British Sitcom Guide was founded and is mainly run by Chief Editor Mark, a Web Developer who is big fan of TV comedy. He noticed that there was a lack of good information about his favourite sitcoms on the net and so set about creating guides to them - the BSG started out very much as a personal hobby site but over the last couple of years has expanded into the current website which now attracts over 60,000 unique visitors a month. Much of the content on this website is supplied by visitors; if it wasn't for this vital help the site wouldn't be anywhere near as good as it is. Thanks must also go to Aaron who developed and runs the BSG message board and looks after the DVD database. This is a not-for-profit hobby site. The running costs of the website are paid for out of our own pockets, with a bit of return coming from advertising revenue, Amazon referrals and donations. Thank you for visiting The British Sitcom Guide, we hope you find our site useful and are as excited about our future plans as we are. If you have any comments or feedback do please get in touch. |
